João Areosa is degree in Sociology. Graduate degree in Safety and Health at Work. Master and PhD in Sociology of Work at the Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL).

He is currently teaching at the Higher Institute of Languages and Administration (ISLA) of Leiria. Integrated investigator at the UM Center for Research in Social Sciences (CICS). Member of the editorial board of the journal Behavioral Safety. Member of the organizational structure of the Network for Research on Working Conditions – Ricot. Member of the board of the International Journal on Working Conditions.

Author of dozens of scientific articles related to the areas of risk and work accidents.
